The Genius Of Buckminster Fuller — Why Freedom Is An Inside Job

We must awaken and fix all the ideas that no longer serve Society or replace them with new ones.

Without a doubt, R. Buckminster Fuller can be counted among the out-of-the-box thinkers of his time who foreshadowed the beginning of a new era and were convinced that an extraordinary change would shake up society in a foreseeable future. Although many may not have yet noticed it, this transition is definitely upon us and gathering pace.

Fuller was more well-known for his design revolution, his geodesic home, which can be seen in the picture above, but also held unorthodox views, which the mainstream so rarely elaborates on. Here are a few quotes of his:

I am convinced that creativity is a priori to the integrity of the universe and that life is regenerative and conformity meaningless

Fuller had understood that creativity was man’s sole purpose and that genuine creativity evolves in harmony within its environment, hence the term regenerative. There is a large number of multinationals out there doing the exact opposite to rapidly gain value on world stock exchanges but ripping apart Nature in the process. The palm oil and fishing industries and factory farming, to name a few, are depleting the planet at a pace unseen before, and their CEOs are lauded for their leadership abilities. Putting profits before empathy is how business has always been done, a model to follow to get rewarded by peers, lobbies, and think tanks.

We are at the point where the integrity of the individual counts and not what the political leadership or the religious leadership says to do.”

Buckminster Fuller essentially referred to integrity as the only real currency over time, and that this integrity is found within. Misrepresenting or embellishing reality only works for a while — while it can. Integrity is all that exists to establish the long-term building blocks of any society. And it is getting time to pay attention.

Smart living, enabled by IoT (internet of things), is beginning to show how trapped we’d become very easily if we do not make two steps backward and fast. In this cyber environment, we are losing our integrity daily as everything is reduced to mere data. Even our DNA is up for sale via sites such as ancestry.com. We are about to leave our Humanity behind!

Social media are also increasingly altering the way we deal with each other, insidiously reinforcing narcissism. Conformity from another kind. People are more and more indulging in distractions because they cannot make sense of or do not just want to think, of the fragility of the system itself, which only works for 20% of the population.

Right now, even the millennials can’t save the day as they owe an average of $36,000 — and paying it down isn’t their top priority, according to CNBC. In the EU too, household debt is staggering. As a society, we cannot achieve any success if 50% of the population is spending more than 34% of their income to service debts. But something is even more troubling because most millennials think they will never get out of debt, meaning they gave up paying it off.

The conformity of hyperconsumerism is a reality that can no longer be ignored, and tackling the bottom line inescapable as happiness does not rely on working 8 hours daily, often doing repetitive and boring tasks to acquire high-tech gadgets and clothes made by people earning slave wages. Universal basic income will also not offer the “safety net” many expect but a minimum guaranteed to go by. We have to step back and take a deep breath in because, at some point and sooner than we think, making a U-turn will be impossible. What would we do and how would we be without our hyper-materialistic conditioning?

Either war is obsolete or men are…. traditional human power structures and their reign of darkness are about to be rendered obsolete.

With the rise of autonomous killer bots, it is also crystal clear that we are headed for a grand-scale disaster if the people who claim themselves “lawmakers” do not speak in favor of the dismantlement of standing armies. Buckminster Fuller stated the obvious, and that more people seem to get along with military power is discombobulating, to say the least. The more technology advances the more peaceful civilizations must become. This is a Natural Law embedded in Knowledge itself.

I am convinced all of humanity is born with more gifts than we know. Most are born geniuses and just get de-geniused rapidly.”

The competition model needs go to undo the social class system. Those who can work their way through are praised as heroes, but for the vast majority the system does not work that way as success depends more on the environment one is born in than anything else. Ivanka Trump being nominated to head the World Bank is an example coming to mind. People in power always have their own inner circles, and the room for new incomers is extremely limited.

Everybody is gifted, a genius in his — or her — own way. Human talents complete one another to promote the unfolding of a Greater Good. It is our social model itself which expects us to look into the same direction(s) that is affecting many rapidly.

We are powerfully imprisoned by the terms in which we have been conducted to think.

Think thanks, which are supposedly organizations dedicated to resolving social and political issues, have not achieved much at all over the last 25 years. Most of them are so polarized that they now even regulate (free) speech. This prevailing mindset of “left vs right” is damaging people’s interactions in the real life. Today people rarely dare speak their minds and equate happiness to some form of secrecy or mindfulness exercise. Human relationships have turned increasingly superficial as a result.

Human beings are the only creatures on the planet that tell time and think they have to earn a living

While thoughts shape subjective reality, there is an Objective Reality that cannot be bent. So when we hear about the law of attraction, we’d be careful and wary, because if this is not grasped, the law of attraction will end up manifesting the opposite.

Human Nature is cosmically designed to favor a Greater Good — under the condition to comprehend that external coercion drives its conditioning. Fear (of scarcity mainly) is what conditions humans into doing things that they do not want to do. All man’s problems begin within himself and then are projected outwardly… then come back home to roost. So where do we move from there?

The Greater Reality is what governs the mechanisms of existence and our addiction to materialism prevents us from seeing the broader picture.

Freedom is not a given but the result of a perpetual and inward motion. To change the world, we need to change ourselves first.
