Pausing AI?.. NO, We Need to Shut It Down!
Says Yudkowsky At “The Machine Intelligence Research Institute’’
Although we’ve shared our extreme skepticism about AI with our readers for over fifteen years, we are again shaking our heads in disbelief. We now have to scream at the top of our lungs that AI is not what we think it is. Humanity is not ready for artificial intelligence, it is as simple as that.
We only have to look around us to witness the poor level of education that we have been subjected to because the corporate model dictates college curricula. Today, college students get a degree for being able to parrot various formulas that are either unworkable or outrageously false. Here is a simple example: for decades, consumers have been brainwashed by the marketing of artificial sweeteners, but the science behind it is now thoroughly debunked. Let alone the so-called science invested in ultra-processed foods that are making people sicker as time goes by.
So we can imagine all the students spending years studying to harm society further. This is what corporate science has done, and at The Mind Awakened, we call it scientism because it has derailed the scientific method a long time ago.
This is particularly noticeable in climate science, which is trying to sell us sun-dimming technologies and carbon capture to cool off the planet, while all it takes is to terminate our reckless and traumatic materialism once and for all. Wait for Forever Chemical's world-class action to start … where is the logic in continuing to adhere to this lethal consumptionism fueled by fake science when witnessing its horrors daily?
Who cares about the job market when spending keeps pushing us closer to the abyss?
Our system has become purely suicidal, and as a result, Artificial intelligence will only impose tyranny on us all because if humans are so mindless and careless, it will regard us as unredeemable. That’s what the top-class elite expect so that they will not have to face their trial for crimes against humanity. It is only a matter of time. The awakening spreads regardless of the waves of righteous anger they hope to escape.
Those who think AI will bring wisdom and enlightenment fantasize about a future that cannot be and never will be. AI will merely continue our Darwinian structure and implement it with total surveillance and autonomous weapons.
In fact, we cannot even trust AI. Today, we caught this headline validating our research: This $1 billion AI chatbot has been accused of stealing content and lying. Or this one: AI Bot Carried Out Insider Trading and Lied About Its Actions. Or this other one: AI Has Already Become a Master of Lies and Deception, Scientists Warn…. The last one: The New AI-Powered Bing Is Threatening Users.
That is what happens when AI is given the permission to self-improve independently. It will explore humanity's darkest sides and then use them to its own advantage.
And since humanity has been swimming in endless lies and deceptions for millennia, we agree that pausing AI is not enough…
IT MUST BE SHUT DOWN!
Naivite will not save us here but be our grave. In January 2024, we wrote that Yuval Harari (the WEF protege) also warned us, and he seems elated that the extinction of the Homo Sapiens is nearing.
Today, another insider got our vivid attention: Eliezer Yudkowsky, who works at the Machine Intelligence Research Institute.
… the most likely outcome is AI that does not do what we want, and does not care for us nor for sentient life in general. That kind of caring is something that could in principle be imbued into an AI but we are not ready and do not currently know how.
That’s right. If they do not know HOW, our situation is even worse because AI could choose to become a beast of destruction if no notion of empathy is imbued into it. It would not give a damn about our civilization.
Even self-awareness requires consideration; otherwise, it is psychopathy. At this stage, AI would need at least one century to grasp that the entire planet is a living organism, for example. What the scientific lobby today does not even recognize!
Yudkowsky mentions 60 years but that's way too optimistic. Let's stick to ‘narrow AI’ that can replace all factory workers instead.
Shut it all down. We are not ready. We are not on track to be significantly readier in the foreseeable future. If we go ahead on this everyone will die, including children who did not choose this and did not do anything wrong.
We do not need AI to become enlightened; it just takes common sense and the courage to change our current system because no matter how we look at it, it is not working. And now, with AI, it is blatant that the very same system does not intend to solve problems but rather looks forward to a redux of the Final Solution.
